Özet
An experimental system has been developed to investigate droplet-jet interaction regimes under various flow and thermodynamic conditions. Single droplets are vertically injected into the potential core region of a horizontal dry air jet. The high pressure chamber developed for this investigation allows high pressures (up to 12 MPa) to be explored, therefore reducing the ρi/ρg ratio to low values never attained before. The droplet Weber and Reynolds numbers are systematically varied. Flow and turbulence characteristics of the jet are determined by twocomponent laser Doppler anemometry. Droplet interaction regimes are observed and quantified by rapid video imaging and numerical image analysis. Drop deformation without breakup and drop breakup under bag, transitional and stripping regimes are clearly observed, both for ethanol and liquid oxygen droplets. Under high pressure and close to supercritical conditions, a strong reduction of the droplet breakup initiation times and the critical Weber number for breakup initiation is observed.
