Abstract

This study aims to explore the concept of employee engagement in Islamic perspective and its consequences on human resource performance. It is based from the Qur'an, hadith of the Prophet Muhammad, the opinions of the theologian, and several studies regarding the essence of Islamic employee engagement, which has stated that vigor means mujahadah, dedication means itqon, and absorption means quwwatul azmi, and become a proof that a construct has been formed. However, for further theoretical development, a comprehensive study regarding the essence of Islamic employee engagement is still necessary. This becomes crucial for the revolution of knowledge and practice, especially in a region or a country with a majority Muslim population.
