Bluetooth low energy (BLE) is a new communication protocol which is suitable for wireless devices that must operate with very low energy and/or harvesting ambient energy. In this paper, a novel technique, which provides efficient operation by adapting BLE protocol in accordance with consumable power limitations, is proposed. The essence of this technique lies in the observation that a considerable decrease in power comsumption can be achieved by lengthening advertisement intervals. The scheduling algortihm, which was developed as a result of problem formulation and analysis, maximizes advertisement throughput and minimizes the expected total waste of receiving attempts produced by near wireless receivers while setting advertisement intervals according to energy harvesting rates.
