Arch 728 Reflections on Landscape dwells on the idea
that planetary environmental challenges necessitate an integrated lens with
landscape knowledge. To develop critical thinking and operational acts on our
relational built environment, the course introduces the frequently couped
fields with landscape studies -urbanism, infrastructure, and ecology. It
uncovers landscape's multiscalar, temporal, and processual emergences by
questioning certain familiar conceptions of space, site, and ground.
Through lectures, seminal readings, student-led presentations,
case studies, and discussions, the course encourages students to link the
theoretical ground of landscape with landscape, architectural and urban design
acts and practices.
