“Personality at Work” will walk you through contemporary personality theories and measurement systems, geared towards predicting job criteria. In terms of theories, we will focus on trait theories, need theories, situational specificity and the social-cognitive approach to studying personality. In terms of measurement, we will focus on self-report inventories—which are explicit in nature—and implicit measures. We will especially focus on conditional reasoning tests developed to measure implicit cognitive biases and justification mechanisms. The course will continue with several controversial and new areas of personality research and application such as personality as typical behavior versus maximal performance, emotional intelligence, and aberrant personality.
