Organizations worldwide are facing increased
competitive pressures and many are restructuring to meet these competitive
challenges. Their success in making the changes required depends to a great
extent on the quality of leadership at all levels of the organization.
Leadership Theory and Application course addresses theories of leadership and
their application to a variety of organizational settings to help students
develop effective leadership behaviors needed by contemporary
organizations. The objective is to equip
students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work more effectively with
individuals and groups in modern organizations.
Some examples to topics covered include traits associated with effective
and ineffective leadership, leadership behaviors, power and influence, dyadic
role making theories, contingency theories of leadership, and charismatic and
transformational leadership.
