The goal of the course is to review contemporary theory, research, and methods relevant to understanding social and moral development during childhood. A range of topics will be considered including theories of moral and social development; genetic, environmental and biological influences on developmental processes, attachment relationships, social cognition, temperament, bullying, self regulation, empathy, social withdrawal and aggression.
There will also be a review of the influence of important social contexts such as family and peers on individual development.
