Course Description and Objectives: This course is the second of a two-semester course on the history, development and culture of the Byzantine Empire.
Course Requirements and Methodology: Students are required to attend at least 70% of classes and come to class havıng read and studıed the assıgned texts, as both theoretical and practical work will be carried out in class. Methodology will include not only lectures, but also class discussion and therefore class participation will be taken into serıous consideration in the final assessment.
Assessment: There will be two exams during the semester. The mid-term exam will be worth 40% and the final exam will make up the remaining 60% of the total grade.
Make-up exams are only given for medical reasons (rapor required!) or scheduling conflicts with another department (requires a signed note from the department stating the time and date of their exam!). More than one exam on the same day, lack of preparation etc. are NOT acceptable excuses.
