It is important to note that there is no one best theory that can provide answer for all conditions of human learning. Therefore, it is important for educators to have an understanding of when and how different approaches should be utilized for learning and instruction. This course underlines learning and instructional theories concerned with their implications for instruction and the field of instructional technology. The major aim of this course is to have students explore a variety of theories that are important for understanding learning and instruction in different types of settings. Throughout the course, variety of behaviorist, cognitivist, developmental, social and humanistic approaches to learning, and instructional theories will be covered. Additionally, this course aims to develop students understanding of when and how different approaches should be utilized in learning and instructional settings.
