The need to understand vastness of sky, space, universe, start with simple questions asked while wandering through our local sky. This introductory astronomy course will guide the students
through this journey.
The course will first introduce astronomy and will give a general perspective by introducing the scales in the universe. It will also give a brief history of astronomy. Physical concepts will be given as needed such as universal gravitation, Kepler’s Law, properties of light as well as some basics of instrumentation used in astronomy.
The course will guide students starting from Solar System up to the largest scale of the universe in order of planets, moons, minor bodies of the solar system, The Sun, other stars, the Milky Way, other galaxies and cosmology at the largest perception.
