Özet

The shale oil boom has been a game-changer in the oil and gas industry over the past two decades, driven by advances in horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing technologies. During this period, valuable experience has been gained concerning the challenges faced in shale oil production. One of the most critical issues is the rapid decline in production rates, which significantly affects the performance of artificial lift systems, especially oil pumps. This chapter focuses on artificial lift systems used in shale oil wells. It examines common pump failures, their underlying causes, and potential issue solutions. Additionally, recent advances in pump technologies for shale oil applications are examined. The chapter also emphasizes the role of well monitoring technologies in data collection, highlighting their importance for applying artificial intelligence to optimize production. Careful optimization of well trajectory and fracture design is important for maximizing shale oil production and supporting effective artificial lift operation.
