Özet

This paper investigates the effects of the SRM control parameters on torque ripple and efficiency. The average shaft torque, torque ripple and the torque per ampere variation of the motor are observed at different turn-on and conduction angles. The study is performed using simulation software developed by the authors. Some experimental results are presented which indicate that the software promises to be accurate. The findings of the study are presented to give an idea about the optimum switching strategy to achieve a reduced torque ripple over a wide speed range as well as high efficiency. Torque ripple is considered to be a figure of the quality of the motor performance relevant to the mechanical vibration and acoustic noise. The torque per ampere is used as an indicator of the drive efficiency. The findings indicate that it is possible to drive an SR motor with reduced torque ripple and high efficiency by proper choice of the control variables. However, it is also found that to achieve such operating conditions it is necessary to derate the motor.
