Özet

Teachers in the modern era should be able to effectively use digital technologies, and it is important to note that they are required not only to use existing media products but also to design their own educational multimedia. Hence, it is crucial to provide pre-service teachers with the ability to create educational multimedia that improves learning. This study seeks to investigate the representation of science in artifacts created by pre-service science teachers using a variety of media forms. It used a case study approach to provide a thorough and detailed analysis of a phenomenon. The study included fifty pre-service science teachers from two consecutive years when the course was offered. The data included the instructional artifacts created by the participants, such as posters, sequential presentations, and video formats. The findings revealed four major themes: "trends in scientific content, use of pedagogical elements, interdisciplinary connections, and cultural and historical aspects of science". The examination of the artifacts reveals that pre-service science teachers have developed fundamental skills in visually presenting scientific concepts, but there is still significant room for improvement in several key areas. While the artifacts had a strong visual appeal, much of the content was superficial, not delving into the deeper "why" and "how" of scientific phenomena. This study explored the messages transmitted to recipients via various media types, as well as the efficacy of each medium in conveying specific message types. The data and findings will add to the existing literature and answer the questions raised in this context.
