Özet

Thermal insulation offers an efficient passive solution to provide energy savings in the buildings. In Turkey, TS 825 “Thermal Insulation Requirements for Buildings” standard regulates the thermal performance of the buildings. In current practice, the energy requirement of a building is calculated manually according to geometric data and thermal properties of the elements on the building envelope. Geometric data is extracted from 2D drawings, whereas materials forming the layers of the exterior building elements need to be matched with the material database given in the standard in order to determine their thermal properties for calculating thermal conductivity of those elements. Therefore, obtaining both geometric and thermal data for all building elements on the envelope is quite repetitive and a time-consuming process. In this study, we developed an application for model based TS 825 analysis. The application is encoded in Revit Add-in Dynamo environment and composed of three modules: (i) inspection module to extract all required data from a Building Information Model for checking the availability of the data and updating the missing ones; (ii) analysis module to automate TS 825 heating energy requirement calculations according to the extracted data; and (iii) control module to analyze the fitness of insulation design of the building to regulations of the thermal insulation standard. In this paper, the challenges encountered during the construction of the application are also explained in detail. The application was tested with a residential case study building and its result was compared with the manual calculations for accuracy analysis. The case analysis indicates that the application is able to generate consistent model based TS 825 analysis with the manually performed analysis given the building model is constructed accurately and according to the calculation requirements of the application and the TS 825 standard
