TAGEM Tarımsal Araştırmalar ve Politikalar Genel Müdürlüğü Projesi, 2015 - 2019
Characterization of the morphological and genetic characteristics of endemic, endangered and economic fish species that distributes in Western Black Sea, Northern Aegean and Susurluk is the main goal of this study. Preparation of the literature that will contribute to the transfer of the biological resources of Turkey to the next generations is also another subject of this project.
Fish sampling was conducted in 78 streams and 15 lakes. Stream sampling was conducted according to TS EN 14011 and TS EN 14962 standarts, and lake sampling was conducted according to TS EN 14757 standart. Morphological and molecular characterization was conducted from the samples gathered.
A total of 73 species was sampled within the project area. Morphological characterization of 27 species was conducted in addition to assessment of length-weight relationship. Morhological characterization was followed by molecular characterization which was conducted from the sequenced samples. And a total of 60 species were assessed.
Data collected with this project might be usefull in conservation and registration of species and also can help in determination of alternative species for aquaculture.
