Embedded low-mass young stellar objects are traditionally identified by their IR/submm spectral index. However, obscured sources and edge-on disks have similar colors, which leads to an incorrect classification, affecting the inferred lifetimes of YSOs. We have demonstrated that using HCO+ 4-3 and C18O 3-2 maps, embedded sources are successfully identified in Ophiuchus. We propose to perform a similar HARP-B survey of an unbiased sample of embedded YSOs in Serpens. This will allow us to compare characteristics of clustered and isolated starforming environments. The data provide an important constrain to existing and planned Herschel observations.
