Energy is one of the most interesting fields for science and technology
research teams because of its importance for the life of human and whole
planet. The common energy resources like oil and petroleum are decreasing and
are not renewable. So, the research on renewable energy sources have been
interested during recent years. Solar energy that is the light and heat
radiated from the sun is one of the renewable sources of energy. It has been
used for production of electricity, heating, photocatalysis and so on. Solar
cells utilize the photons energy to make electricity using so called
“photovoltaic effect”. Various kinds of solar cells or photovoltaic devices
have been developed till now. One class of them are quantum dots-based
photovoltaic systems that are categorized in the “third generation” of the
solar cells. The cells of this generation use novel emerging technologies and
nanostructures. Quantum dot based solar cell efficiencies have been improved
with engineered layers and improved material properties through surface
engineering. In the present research, Iranian and Turkish teams will
collaborate to improve the photo conversion efficiency of quantum dot based
solar cells using electrochemically deposited electron transport layers and
carbon quantum dots.
