Middle East Technical University (METU) proposes an initiative to develop and implement qualitative Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) tailored for assessing research to be held in METU Crea (Center for Research and Innovation in Creative Industries) for the following creative sectors: new-generation film making, game development, and wearable technologies using experiences gathered in METU Crea. METU, with its extensive academic community of over 2,500 academicians, provides a robust foundation for this project. METU Crea supports ecosystem stakeholders across Türkiye, ensuring a broad and significant impact.
This project aligns with the ARRA by focusing on qualitative evaluation methods supported by responsibly used quantitative indicators. Through stakeholder workshops and collaboration with external experts, whom we already know from the film, gaming, and wearable technology industries, we will define KPIs that reflect innovation, societal impact, and creative excellence. These KPIs will be piloted in select research projects at METU Crea, with comprehensive training provided to researchers and evaluators. The project will culminate in evaluating and refining the KPIs. Expected outcomes include improved assessment methods, recognition of diverse research outputs, and a scalable model that other institutions can adopt. During the project, we will deep dive into the existing methods developed by CoARA working groups.
