Özet:

This study aims to find common levels of graph simplification between a rule based method and humans. A graph simplification method was implemented based on a grammatical set of rules. (Kulik & Egenhofer, 2003) Also an experiment was conducted with human participants. In the experiment, the subjects were asked to simplify a set of line graphs. The outputs of the graph simplification algorithm were compared with the human sketches. The results reveal a systematic relationship between the prediction of the rule sets and human sketches. The level of simplification in human sketches was also influenced by working memory span characteristics.
