Özet:

Turkish government is planning to install nuclear power plants in order to increase the number of base power plants and hence to decrease the dependency on natural gas TPPs. In this matter, 4 x 1200 MW Akkuyu NPP will be the first NPP project constructed in Turkey between 2020 and 2023. The project is a critical issue for Turkish Electricity System due to its installed capacity and being first NPP experience in Turkey. Therefore, supply security of Akkuyu NPP is the main concern of Transmission System Operator since NPP unit trips due to voltage excursions or transmission congestions can cause large power loss and undesired cascade transmission events. This thesis provides long-term transmission planning for a large-scale power plant for TSO in the case of Akkuyu NPP. Initially, preliminary studies are presented about expansion plans of transmission and generation systems, regional demand forecast and dispatch scenario forecast to obtain simulation data. Then, transmission system security is investigated through static analyses using PSS/E software. Existing regulations in Turkey state that a nuclear plant must be able to withstand up to N-2 contingency without any interruption. Therefore, detailed load flow and contingency analyses are performed and several transmission congestions are located. Suggestions for enhancing security of the network have been presented. Finally, transmission system stability is investigated through transient analyses using DIgSILENT software. Conditions of remaining in synchronism of Akkuyu NPP to grid are analyzed after a large disturbance in the region occurs. Results have indicated that system is stable after disturbances simulated.
