Özet:

The main objective of the present master’s thesis was to investigate the association of activities of daily living (ADL) with quality of life and life satisfaction among Turkish elderly population and to examine the mediating role of loneliness on these associations. The sample of the current study was composed of 109 older individuals aged between 65 and 88. The findings of the study indicated that functionality in ADL was positively associated with quality of life and life satisfaction and negatively associated with loneliness. Loneliness was also negatively associated with quality of life and there was a positive association between quality of life and life satisfaction. The findings of the mediation analyses showed that loneliness mediated the association between ADL and quality of life among Turkish elderly individuals. However, the findings of the study did not support the mediator role of loneliness on the association between ADL and life satisfaction among Turkish elderly individuals. The findings were discussed in the light of the literature. The strengths and limitations of the current study as well as clinical implications of the findings and personal experiences of the researcher were presented.
